How to make a printable big mouth surprise monster

What do you need:

  • our printable template – you will find it at the bottom of this article
  • painting supplies – markers, ballpoint pens, pencils or paints, whichever works best for you
  • paper

step by step instructions

Print out one of our templates (it comes in two sizes, so pick the right one for your craft class).

You can print them on plain or thicker paper (cardboard), we recommend the latter.

Plain printer paper if your kids are going to color with crayons or crayons, but if you color with a felt-tip pen, the plain printer paper will wrinkle and colors will run off.

So this is something to keep in mind. Heavier printing paper also makes this art and craft more durable.

Give the kids their favorite coloring supplies and let them color the monster.

There really isn’t a rule when it comes to coloring monsters – they can use light or dark colors, warm and cool colors, whatever combination they see fit.

Since the monster is colored, why don’t you ask him to draw the background as well? Whether in a beautiful living room or somewhere out of this world (in another monster dimension or on an unknown planet).

Once the kids are happy with the way their monster looks, it’s time to double down.

Start by creating a crease along the upper lip line. Fold the width of the paper.

Then pull the crease of the upper lip to join the line of the lower lip – push the paper down to create another crease inside (it will create itself).

Fold it well so that all creases are neat and tidy and you’re done.

Your monster is ready to have fun!
