Skate 4 leak reveals 30 seconds of pre-alpha footage

A recent Skate 4 leak reveals just over 30 seconds of pre-alpha footage.

As VentureBeat’s Jeff Grubb points out, the footage was leaked via an Odysee account. It shows the player character sliding on rails in an urban area and performing tricks like kicking and pop shuvits. Neither the character model nor the environments have the textures that are normal for pre-alpha prototype images. Grubb reports that EA is testing an early build to find the “feel” of the game before detailing the environments and visuals.

This is the pre-alpha render of Skate 4. That’s in line with what I’ve heard from various people about where the game is. They’re trying to get the right feel, which is probably the most important aspect of the game of skateboarding. https://t.co/AXNV2Agk6z pic.twitter.com/nUINhghxLg20 April 2022

Series creative director Cuz Parry and game director Deran Chung announced Skate 4 during EA’s E3 2020 showcase, but didn’t reveal much beyond the fact that the game exists. In fact, we haven’t seen a glimpse of the actual gameplay yet, making this leaked video the first real footage of Skate 4 in action.

The next installment from the legendary cult boarder’s game was simply called Skate – this time with no numerical inserts – and in February, EA released a brief update saying the game will be “coming soon”. Grubb, a credible insider, doesn’t expect Skate 4 to launch in 2022, but predicts we’ll be hearing more about the game “soon.” We can only hope; It’s been nearly 12 years since Skate 3 was released (sorry to remind you that 2010 is 12 years old).

As spotted by VentureBeat’s Jeff Grubb, the footage was leaked via a burner account on Odysee. It shows the player character skating around an urban area grinding on rails and performing tricks like kick flips and pop shuvits. Neither the character model nor the environments have any textures, which is normal for pre-alpha, prototype footage. Grubb reports that EA is testing out an early build to figure out the “feel” of the game before it fleshes out the environments and visuals.
