Paper Strips Ladybug Valentines Day Craft

Surprise your friends and family with this cute ladybug craft for Valentine’s Day – two ladybugs sitting on a heart-shaped leaf will make everyone’s day beautiful.

This project is easy to make and there are a few simple steps you need to follow to get your ladybug spinning fast.

DIY 3D Paper Ladybug for Valentine's Day

This time we assemble our ladybugs so that they can rotate around the heart-shaped leaf.

How to make ladybug crafts from paper for Valentine’s Day in 3D

What do you need:

  • red cardstock
  • pink cardboard
  • white marker
  • scissors
  • Gum
  • circle punch
  • black cardstock
  • big eyes
  • black lining
  • circle shaped ruler
  • two pots

Used materials

Let’s start!

Draw a heart-shaped leaf with your free hand. Use white pencil and pink cardstock.

Stage 1

Cut the heart sheet using scissors.

Cut out two red circles with your circle punch.

Stage 3

Thread the cotter pins through the center of the circles and then through the pink heart-shaped sheet.

Separate the ends of the pins so that the circles are glued to the paper.

Cut 8 red strips 1 cm wide. Choose the height you want for the strips. They will be used to create ladybug bodies.

Step 6

Fold the ends of each red strip.

Step 7

Apply some glue on the folded parts and create an X in the red circles as shown in the picture.

Glue the rest of the strips.

Step 9

Now decorate your heart paper as you wish, but make sure to draw two small hearts on the pink sheet.

Take the circular shaped ruler and draw a few circles on the black cardstock.

Step 11

Cut out these circles.

Glue the circles one by one to the red strips and top as shown in this photo.

Step 13

Be sure to leave two pieces of ribbon blank on each red stem, as we’ll be putting the ladybug heads there.

Draw two ladybug heads on the black card.

Step 15

Cut the heads off with scissors.

Fix wide eyes on the heads.

Now glue the heads to the stems where you left the blank pieces of tape.

How to Make Paper Ladybug Crafts for Valentine’s Day in 3D
What do you need:
red card stock
pink card stock
white marker
the scissors
glue
circle puncher
black card stock
wide eyes
black lining
ruler with circle shapes
two cotter pins

Let’s start!
Step by step tutorial
Draw a freehand heart-shaped leaf. Use the white marker and the pink card stock.

Cut out the heart sheet using scissors.

Cut out two red circles with your circle punch.

Push the cotter pins through the centers of the circles, then through the pink heart-shaped sheet.

Split the ends of the pins so the circles stay attached to the sheet.

The bodies of ladybugs
Cut 8 red strips 1 cm wide. Choose the height you want for the strips. They will be used to form the bodies of the ladybugs.

Fold the ends of each red strip.

Apply some glue to the folded parts and form an X on the red circles as shown in the picture.

Glue the rest of the strips.

Now decorate your heart sheet however you like, but be sure to draw two small hearts on the pink sheet.

Take the ruler with circle shapes and draw some circles on the black card stock.

Cut out these circles.

Fix the circles one by one on the red strips and on the top as shown in this photo.

Be sure to leave two parts of strips empty on each red body as we will be sticking the ladybug heads there.

On the black card stock, draw two ladybug heads.

Cut off the heads using scissors.

Fix the googly eyes on the heads.

Now glue the heads to the bodies where you left the empty tape parts.

Look how adorable they are!

All done!
