How to make an Orca pop up card with our Killer Whale pop up card template

What do you need:

  • our arctic animals pop up card templates
  • cardstock (white for card printing and red for background)
  • scissors
  • Gum
  • painting supplies if using a black and white card template

step by step tutorial

Print out the Orca pop up card template – you can choose black and white for kids to color first.

When the black and white model is in color, or if you have printed the model in full color, cut the outer rectangular line.

Next fold – fold the card in half with the orca design on the outside, following the dotted line on the card.

Orca’s teeth have a zigzag line that cuts slowly along that line.

You will see two diagonal dotted lines running along the orca’s face – fold them along these lines.

Open the card and slowly start closing it, this time with the design inside.

Push your fingers behind the killer whale’s mouth as you close the card, this will help position the folds as they should for the pop-up card.

At this point, your map should look like this.

Take the red card (fold the red card if you don’t have one) – the card must be the same size or larger as the pop-up card template.

Apply glue to half of the folded pop-up card (the one with the design) and stick it inside the red card.

Press down to let the glue dry.

Apply glue to the other half…

… and close the map.

Wait for the glue to dry.

finished! Your Orca popup card is complete.

What do you need:
our polar animal pop-up card templates
card stock (white for the card print and red for the background)
the scissors
glue
coloring supplies if using the black and white card template
Step by step tutorial
Print out the orca pop-up card template – you can choose the black and white one for the kids to color in first.

Once the black and white model is colored, or if you printed the fully colored model, cut around the outer rectangular line.

Next is the folding – fold the card in half, with the orca design on the outside, following the dotted line across the card.

There is a zigzag line between the teeth of the killer whale, cut slowly along this line.

You will notice two diagonal dotted lines running across the orca’s face – bend them along these lines.

Open the card and slowly start closing it again, this time with the design inside.
Push your fingers into the back of the killer whale’s mouth as you close the card, this will help position the folds as they should be for your pop-up card.

At this point, this is what your map should look like.

Take the red card (fold the red card stock if you don’t have a card) – the card should be the same size or larger than the pop-up card template.
Apply glue to one half of the folded pop-up card (the one with the design) and stick it inside the red card.

Press down so the glue sets.

Apply glue to the other half…

…and close the map.
Wait for the glue to set.

Finished! Your Orca pop-up card is complete.
