Butterfly Valentine’s Day Paper Craft

Making a heart butterfly is so easy, just follow our tutorial on how to make a paper butterfly for Valentine’s Day and you’ll be making your own in no time.

It can be used as a Valentine’s Day card and is super cute!

These butterflies can be used both as cards and as gifts. Or just as a decoration to hang on the wall of your home or classroom.

How to make paper crafts with butterflies for Valentine’s Day

  • scissors
  • red colored paper
  • White paper
  • black cardstock
  • big eyes
  • pencil
  • GumUsed materials

Let’s start!

step by step instructions

Fold the red colored paper in half and draw a big heart shape.

Stage 1

Cut out the heart shape using scissors. You now have two big red hearts.

Fold the white paper twice as shown in the picture.

Stage 3

Draw a small heart shape with the pencil.

Cut out the heart shape.

You now have four big white hearts.

step 5

Fold a piece of red colored paper twice.

Step 6

Draw an even smaller third heart shape.

Step 7

Cut out the heart shape using scissors.

You now have four red hearts.

Step 8

Fold a piece of white paper twice.

Step 9

Draw the fourth smallest heart shape.

Cut out the heart shape using scissors.

You now have four white hearts.

Step 11

Take a pair of each heart and glue them together as shown in the picture.

Take a couple of the remaining hearts and glue them on top of each other.

Wings are done.

Step 13

They should look like this.

Steps 12 and 13

Draw the body of a butterfly…

…and cut it.

Step 14-1

Apply some glue to the back of the fuselage and glue the four wings to it.

Step 15

Add two bulge eyes to the head.

Draw a small white mouth, cut it with scissors and place it under the eyes.

Draw two small hearts, one white and one red.

Cut out these hearts and glue them on the top of the head (above the vertical ‘tentacles’) as shown in the picture.

Let’s start!
Step by step instructions
Fold the red colored paper in half and draw a large heart shape.

Cut out the heart shape using scissors. You now have two big red hearts.

Fold the white paper twice as shown in the picture.

Draw a small heart shape with a pencil.

Cut out the heart shape.
You now have four big white hearts.

Fold a piece of red colored paper twice.

Draw a third, even smaller heart shape.

Cut out the heart shape using scissors.
You now have four red hearts.

Fold a piece of white colored paper twice.

Draw the fourth smallest heart shape.

Cut out the heart shape using scissors.
You now have four white hearts.

Take a pair of each heart and glue them on top of each other as shown in the picture.

Take a pair of the rest of the hearts and glue them on top of each other.
The wings are done.

They should look like this.

Draw the body of a butterfly…

…and cut it out.

Apply some glue to the back of the body and attach the four wings to it.

Add two googly eyes to the head.

Draw a small white mouth, cut it out using scissors, then place it under the eyes.

Draw two small hearts, one white, the other red.

Cut out these hearts and glue them to the top of the head (above the vertical ‘tentacles’) as shown in the picture.

Finished.

Our butterfly is ready to fly!
