Bat Painted Rocks

If your kids love to paint rocks or are just starting their cave painting adventure, have them try these bat painted rocks!

This is a great Halloween craft to do with kids and it’s easy to make.

This is a great project to get your kids excited about cave painting because it’s a beginner level and the result is really cute.

If you’re making this a Halloween craft, be sure to give the bats big fangs – turn them into vampire bats (a drop of red on the teeth will make it even cooler).

Once you’ve done the first one, you won’t be able to stop and you’ll soon find yourself with a cauldron of bats (that’s what a bunch of bats are called!)

How to make painted bat stones

What do you need:

  • stones
  • acrylic color of your choice
  • big eyes
  • scrub
  • a colored paper to match the color of the acrylic
  • a colored paper of your choice (we used yellow)
  • scissors
  • white cardstock
  • hot glue
  • pencil
  • circle object

Used materials

step by step instructions

Take a stone and cover it with acrylic paint.

We use black for our bat. Let the color dry.

Stage 1

Take two googly eyes and glue them to the stone using hot glue.

On the white card, draw a small mouth with two sharp teeth visible.

Stage 3

Cut the mouth with scissors.

step 4

Apply hot glue and stick its mouth to the body of the bat.

step 5

Draw two small wings. We used black cardboard for the wings.

Step 6

Cut the wings and glue them to the back of the body using hot glue.

Step 7

Draw a circle using the circle object on the yellow card.

Step 8

Cut the circle.

Step 9

Attach the stick to the circle by applying hot glue to the back of the stick.

wide eyes
brush

On the yellow card stock, draw a circle using the circle object.

Cut out the circle.

Attach the bat to the circle by applying hot glue to the back of the bat.
